Role Optimisation, Support, Enhancement and Customisation
Challenge The Peoplesoft 7.5 instance at Unilever Arabia had stopped working for sometime and despite the efforts of many a top-notch consulting firm, had not begun functioning.

Our consultant examined the Peoplesoft installation and zeroed down on the Oracle database being the root cause.

After thoroughly optimising the database and noticing no improvement, the indexes and tables were analysed thoroughly and restored the database table-by-table.

Because of this success, CM was awarded an annually renewable contract for maintenance and development of Peoplesoft.

We are now handling Peoplesoft development and maintenance across 8 countries in the Middle East region, for Unilever.

Role Setup, Optimisation, Support
Challenge Unilever wanted to deploy a proprietary workflow system.

This was a product sold by some party in U.A.E., with the basic system being from elsewhere. So there was a major disconnect between the developer and the distributor of the system.

From a setup and support role, CM had to get involved in optimisation and tweaking the system.

Challenge A "Big 5" consultancy firm had left the whole HLL Peoplesoft implementation in an unstable state, which was being stabilised by family run Peoplesoft-support company, who were technically competent, but highly questionable on the documentation aspect and to add to the woes, they were being weaned away by another Unilever company. Since CM had done a fairly decent job with an Oracle development project, CM was asked to takeover from this company. Peoplesoft, at that time, was an object of much speculation and suspicion with the owners ( HR Managers ) and the end-users ( HR Officers ) We not only stabilised the system and made it usable, but went on to integrate the system with many of their other external HR applications. We made the system appreciated to such an extent that the users themselves would come and suggest enhancements to existing functionality. We have till date provided 72,000 man hours of Development & support for Peoplesoft.

Challenge HLL wanted a Performance Appraisal and Competency Enhancement system for its officers, based on the Performance Management Model followed at HLL. The problem was that there were no records of the details of officers in a consolidated form. We were also given a ridiculously short deadline of 3 months to develop the whole software and absorb data into it.

We managed to develop & deploy the system in 2.5 months, and also setup India-wide multi-location helpdesks to handle the high quanta of data. Helpdesks were setup in the four main metros and Bangalore to handle regional data and provide regional support, functionally as well as technically.

About 4000-5000 officers' data was absorbed for the previous 3 yrs; 2000, 2001 & 2002. And officers entered their data for 2003.This whole process was supported without any hitches and the whole exercise completed in under a month.

Till this date, we maintain multi-location helpdesks for PACE.

Challenge HLL wanted a Performance Development and Planning system for its managers, based on the Performance Management Model followed by them.

A basic version of this system had been developed in Indonesia and sent to India, that version was found to be highly lacking in certain features desired by HR in India.

Also, since this tool had to be almost developed from scratch and integrated with Peoplesoft (because that's where the employee details were stored), we were asked to develop this tool or enhance it as we deemed fit. With a feature for real-time data bridge between Peoplesoft and PDP

We managed to enhance the system and seamlessly integrate it with Peoplesoft back-end in 4 months, this modified system was supported by us for about 2 years before the need was felt to have a PDP ver 2., which was obviously developed by us with lots of more features and a much better engine, since this time we completely redeveloped everything.

This version of PDP is till date being used by HLL to manage the performance of its managers.

Challenge There are, an average of a few hundred cases filed on or by HLL every single day. And these could be in the jurisdiction of any court anywhere in the country.

To handle this magnitude of Legal cases, their counsels and the vast amount of litigation associated with them. A Legal Back office System was required.

After our successes with enhancing and successfully deploying an Indonesian software, PDP, at HLL. We were hired to make this back-office system.

We managed to develop the system and deploy it across the country in about 6 locations.

We not only provided development, installation and support; but also user training for the same and keeping in mind the sensitivity of the information, security support and disaster recovery support is also being provided for this system.

The system was found to be so robust, that some Japanese who had come down to HLL to give Kaizen training, complimented the system for it's 99.97 percent accuracy and complimented the HLL managers/lawyers in-charge of that system.

This version of Legal Back-office system is till date being used by HLL to manage litigation and corresponding counsels

Challenge HLL has a network of depots, branches and regional offices all over the country. The branches, under which every depot comes, have to stick to certain statutory and business norms.

At the end of every month, every depot has to submit "Positive Assurance Reports", for these norms, to its parent branch. These are variegated and numerous audit trails across many categories. And after being submitted they have to undergo a feedback and re-submission process. The number of PARs was around 4500 - 5000 per month. Further more the system had to have an interface to the already online Mfg-Pro system.

We managed to develop the system and interface it with Mfg-Pro. Using our own proprietary data-interchange format.

This version of PAR system is till date being used by HLL

Challenge HLL has started the Shakti initiative to empower the women of India, especially in the lower income group, to become an entrepreneur.

There are about 5000-6000 such entrepreneurs on the ground at any given point of time, the consolidation of sales of all these entrepreneurs was being done in excel.

Since this was a very cumbersome method; a nation-wide Extranet / Intranet Application was sought for sales data consolidation, MIS and Management of sales executives and their locations.

The whole Application was completed in 5 months and successfully deployed in Feb 2006 and presently we are providing enhancements and support for the same.

Role Deployment, Migration and support
Challenge HLL is deploying Adrenaline, a software product from Polaris.

Adrenaline wanted to be able to access all the data from Peoplesoft and migration of the data to the Adrenaline database was thought to be the solution, instead of giving access to Peoplesoft.

This entire process was governed and audited by CM, as their knowledge of Peoplesoft and its customisations was comprehensive.

We were also aware of the functional requirements of HR and the tweaks to those processes which come time and again; hence we were also involved in deploying Adrenaline.

Besides these above mentioned projects, we have also developed several smaller applications for HLL and supported them, here are a few examples

PEMS - It was an application which used to monitor the free giveaways with many of HLL products, for example Bucket with Surf, or Toothbrush with Pepsodent, this was integrated to their back-end accounts ERP.

HLL Survey - at any given point of time HLL is running many internal as well as external surveys, we had built a generic survey module, which would help them set questionnaires, deploy the survey, collect feedback and analyse it using a few generic graphs and reports.

HLL Training - We helped support HLL training center's IT requirements, like making small applications to managing training schedule, students list, empty classroom list, available lodging, both internal and external etc.
